Alair Homes® is once again earning national recognition, with multiple projects shortlisted in the prestigious Canadian Home Builders’ Association (CHBA) National Awards for Housing Excellence, one of the highest honours in Canada’s residential construction industry. This year, Alair has secured four finalist nominations, underscoring the company’s continued leadership in custom home building, renovation, and design innovation across the country.

The finalists span the country and represent a wide range and size of projects from renovations to custom homes. The nominations include:

  • Alair Forest Hill – Best Whole Kitchen Renovation Over $100,000 for their California Toronto Dreams project;
  • Alair Forest Hill – Best Whole Home Renovation Over $800,000, for California Toronto Dreams;
  • Alair Squamish/Whistler – Best Custom Home Under 2500 square feet for Arrowhead, their Bowen Island Custom Home.

“We knew that our custom home project on Bowen Island was special from the very beginning,” says Jason Zavitz, partner at Alair Squamish/Whistler. “Everything from its proximity to the ocean, the unique design, the material used, and the passion the clients had to do it right. This project has definitely been one of the most unique builds that I’ve ever been a part of.”

The CHBA National Awards are widely regarded as the benchmark for excellence in Canadian housing. Each year, hundreds of entries are submitted from builders, renovators, and developers nationwide, spanning everything from custom homes and renovations to marketing and community development. In 2026 alone, more than 900 entries were evaluated by over 200 industry experts, making finalist recognition a significant achievement in a highly competitive field.

“We see the quality of work going up industry-wide and know the competition is more fierce than ever, so it makes these nominations mean even more,” says Evelynn Ratcliffe, partner at Alair Forest Hill. “It’s especially exciting to see Alair nominated for four awards this year. This means that Alair isn’t just great in pockets or certain regions, but a consistent and reliable source of building excellence network-wide. I’m proud to see Alair raising the bar across the nation.”

From thoughtfully executed renovations to a striking custom home, each recognized project demonstrates a commitment to quality and attention to detail. The nominations also highlight the collaborative nature of Alair’s work, where builders, designers, and homeowners work closely together to bring unique visions to life.

Working with designer Parris McKenna, Alair Forest Hill’s renovation transformed a 4000 square foot home into a California-inspired oasis. The kitchen is characterized by the interplay of light and dark, working together to create a striking and yet inviting environment.

Alair Squamish/Whistler’s unique 1000 square foot custom home sits perched on a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Designed by Gnar Inc., the deck’s footprint is larger than the home itself. The green roof, golden in summer, helps the home disappear into the landscape, making it almost invisible from the road above.

In addition to the award nominations, these projects have also been garnering attention in media across the country. The Alair Forest Hill project was featured in House & Home Magazine and Alair Squamish/Whistler’s Bowen Island project was on the cover of West Coast Homes and Design Magazine

Across Canada, Alair has built a reputation for delivering high-end homes that balance design excellence with livability. Whether it’s maximizing space in a compact footprint, integrating modern materials, or preserving the character of an existing structure, the company consistently pushes the boundaries of residential construction.

Winners of the 2026 CHBA National Awards for Housing Excellence will be announced during Home Building Week in Canada, with the awards ceremony taking place in Québec City on May 8, 2026. For Alair, simply reaching the finalist stage is already a noteworthy accomplishment, but the potential to bring home national titles further elevates what has been a standout year.
