Stacy Eakman

Partner

I am Partner here at Alair Kirkland and was President at Eakman Construction Company, a company I founded in 2012. My passion for construction started at a young age, as my father had a remodeling company, and I learned the trade by working with him on job sites and around the house. This experience, combined with being unemployed and knowing I had the skills to build things, led me to start my own company.

Some of the most notable achievements in my career, include being chosen as one of Remodelers Magazine’s 40 under 40 honorees in 2019 and earning the magazine’s BIG 50 Award for being one of the top 50 remodeling companies in the country. In 2020 I was honored to be selected as one of Puget Sound Business Journal’s 40 under 40 honorees.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wife Danica and my 12-year-old son Kason, traveling, and learning how to be a better leader. My biggest strength in my work is my ability to have a big dream and keep moving forward toward it, taking it one step at a time. My success can be attributed to me living by the motto “Just do the next thing”.

What I am most passionate about in my job is changing the way people feel about residential construction companies. I am constantly striving to create an experience for our clients that shift the overall perception of what it is like to do a large construction project. My future career goal is to have Alair Kirkland be chosen as one of Seattle Business Magazine’s top 100 places to work, with the ultimate aim of being in the top 50 and the number one residential construction company on the list.

My family and close relationships have had a huge impact on my life and career. I am grateful for my parents’ guidance and love, and I work hard to set a good example for my son. My wife’s unwavering faith in me gives me the confidence to tackle any challenge that comes my way.

Darren Califano

VP of Operations

As the VP of Operations at Eakman Construction, I bring a wealth of experience to the table. I was drawn to this field as a way to start working right after college and was soon hooked by the thrill of building and creating. I hold a Certificate in Construction Management from the University of Washington and have spent over two decades in this industry. Starting out as a carpenter for a custom home builder, I worked my way up to superintendent, and eventually started my own remodeling business. In 2012, I transitioned to the commercial side of construction. My passion is in residential custom homes so I was excited to join Eakman Construction in October 2021. When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my wife in Arizona, riding my Harley, and playing with my two grandsons. I bring dedication and consistency to my work and am passionate about building relationships with my colleagues and clients. My goal for the future is to play a key role in the successful transition from Eakman Construction to Alair Kirkland, and to help change the way people feel about residential construction companies. My wife Leanne is a bakery operations specialist for Albertsons Companies, and I have four amazing children. I am passionate about building and mentoring those that make our company successful, and I am eager to bring my expertise to the team at Alair Kirkland.

Jacob Schlumberger

As a Project Manager, I have always been inspired by the construction industry. Growing up around my mom who is an interior designer and having family members who own trade companies, it seemed like an obvious direction for me. I attended Washington State University and hold certifications as a Phius Certified Passive Home Builder CPHB and OSHA 30 card holder. Throughout my career, I have been known to go above and beyond my job responsibilities to help out the team, even taking on additional operations responsibilities and running weekly operations meetings with other Project Managers and Superintendents.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time outdoors, including hunting, fishing, and hiking. I also play hockey as the captain of my team, the IceHawks, in the Adult Kraken Hockey League. My biggest strength in work is my ability to learn quickly, stay calm in stressful situations, and adapt my communication style to better communicate with others.

I also enjoy teaching and helping our carpenters and superintendents develop their skill set. In the future, I hope to continue growing and learning in my career.

Personally, I was recently engaged and am overjoyed to have found my life partner who shares so many of my core values. I am close with my family and looking forward to starting my own family with my fiancé.

Kevin Haines

Project Manager

As a project manager, my passion for construction began in high school when I helped build my family’s beach house on Camano Island. It was designed by Mithun, and the experience sparked my interest in modern architecture and building.

I have a degree in Business and Construction Management from the University of Washington. Throughout my career, I’ve worked in various sectors of construction, including commercial construction, high-end residential projects, and plat work and developments. I’ve purchased land, designed and built spec houses, and have experience building ultra-modern and traditional homes.

When I’m not on the job, I love to spend time backpacking and mountain biking. One of my biggest strengths in my work is my ability to thrive off the fast-paced, time-sensitive culture of construction. I’m a morning person, which allows me to jump right into the day and tackle whatever challenges come my way.

What I’m most passionate about in my job is collaborating with like-minded, creative, and motivated individuals as we take napkin sketches and turn them into final projects. Seeing a project come to fruition is truly rewarding, and I feel fortunate to be able to do what I love every day.
