Set along a high ridge, the Pinnacle Project custom home was designed to take full advantage of its surroundings, with clear views of Grandfather Mountain and Blowing Rock. Designed by Larry Langley, the home balances modern design with subtle mountain influence.
Building along the ridge called for expert coordination—from precise rock excavation to planning for conditions at elevation. A 275-year-old oak tree became central to the vision, with the home designed to preserve and celebrate it. Through this process, everything came together into a home that feels both considered and beautifully resolved.
Inside, large windows frame the landscape from nearly every room, creating a constant connection to the outdoors. The kitchen reflects the homeowners’ style, anchored by a distinctive quartzite surface, and open to the main living spaces.
Throughout the home, custom woodwork, including ceiling beams and handcrafted barn doors, adds warmth and texture. A stone feature wall with iron mountain climbers introduces a personal detail that ties back to the setting.
Beyond the build itself, this home was designed to create a deeper experience of the mountains for the homeowners.
