Recently completed by Alair High Country, the Beier Residence is a custom modern mountain home that perfectly balances thoughtful design, everyday functionality, and breathtaking mountain views. Perched on a spectacular homesite overlooking Grandfather Mountain and Beech Mountain, the home was designed by Marland Architecture, led by Kimberly Marland, with Hutch House Interiors collaborating closely with the homeowners to develop both the interior and exterior finishes. Residential Structures of Charleston, South Carolina, provided the structural engineering that helped bring the vision to life.

While every room was carefully considered, the heart of this home is undoubtedly the kitchen. Designed around the homeowners’ love of cooking, it features a large central island that encourages gathering and meal preparation. A matching ILVE range and hood create a striking focal point while delivering exceptional performance and craftsmanship. Hutch House Interiors completed the space with a custom backsplash that ties the entire design together into one of the home’s standout features.

Throughout the home, custom craftsmanship is on full display. A unique fireplace, conceptualized in-house by the Alair High Country team, anchors the living room, while a custom wet bar showcases site-built cabinetry paired with rich black walnut countertops and shelving.

At just over 2,700 square feet, the home lives much larger than its footprint suggests. Nine-foot ceilings throughout most of the home, combined with a dramatic vaulted living room finished with nickel-gap tongue-and-groove and rough-sawn box beams, create an open and inviting atmosphere. Upstairs, each child enjoys a private bedroom with its own en-suite bathroom, providing comfort and independence for the entire family.

Like many High Country custom homes, outdoor living was just as important as the interior. The expansive rear deck was designed for year-round enjoyment, complete with gas quick-disconnects for an outdoor grill or smoker and a masonry wood-burning fireplace for cooler mountain evenings. Large windows and expansive glass doors maximize the incredible mountain views, ensuring Grandfather Mountain and Beech Mountain remain a focal point from nearly every room.

From its carefully crafted details to its seamless blend of luxury, functionality, and modern mountain living, the Beier Residence reflects the homeowners’ vision at every turn. Thoughtfully designed gathering spaces, custom craftsmanship, and breathtaking views of Grandfather Mountain and Beech Mountain come together to create a one-of-a-kind custom home in High Country that is as beautiful as it is livable.
