Purchased for location and potential, the homeowners knew it would take a lot to get this home in shape. But, beneath all the issues was a showstopper.

Stripping away the bad proved to be a more aggressive task than originally anticipated. The home’s condition proved worse than expected, and nearly every surface required replacement. But we salvaged what we could knowing there is value in what is old and in respecting the historic neighborhood and preservation requirements.

At less than 700 SF, this was a tiny home. Finding space for common areas that felt open and welcoming while also having two proper ensuite bedrooms necessitated a second-story addition that could be approved by historic neighborhood review. We maintained the existing footprint and character of the front facade and, through very clever design, added plenty of storage, style, and airy space.
