This renovation was designed to transform a compartmentalized floor plan into a more open, functional, and family-centered living environment. We removed the existing playroom adjacent to the kitchen and eliminated the wall separating the kitchen and living room, creating a seamless connection between the home’s primary gathering spaces. The kitchen was reconfigured and shifted toward the front of the home, allowing for the addition of a large central island that now serves as the focal point of both the kitchen and living room. To further improve circulation and sightlines, we widened the cased openings between the foyer and dining room, as well as between the dining room and the new kitchen and bar area. The renovation also enhanced everyday functionality by converting the former combined laundry and powder room into two dedicated spaces: a well-organized laundry and mudroom, and a separate powder bath for guests. The result is a bright, open-concept layout that better supports modern family living, entertaining, and daily routines.
