Named Eet Smakelijk — Dutch for “Enjoy Your Meal” — this Eagle Terrace renovation was designed around gathering, connection, and the simple joy of sharing food in a beautifully considered space. What was once a dated and compartmentalized main floor has been thoughtfully transformed into an open-concept entertaining environment that feels expansive, refined, and effortlessly functional.

Spanning approximately 700 square feet, the renovation reimagined the kitchen, dining, and living areas into one cohesive layout. Walls were removed to improve flow and sightlines, allowing natural light to move freely throughout the space. The updated kitchen now anchors the home, designed with hosting in mind — balancing clean architectural lines with warm, mountain-inspired finishes that feel at home in the Bow Valley.

The defining feature of the project is the dramatic vertical continuity created by faux concrete walls running from the basement to the top floor. Paired with a striking steel monostringer staircase, this sculptural element becomes the architectural heart of the home. Open risers enhance light and openness, while the combination of steel, wood, and concrete-inspired textures introduces a modern, industrial edge softened by natural warmth.

Completed over six months, Eet Smakelijk is a refined mountain-modern renovation in Canmore’s Eagle Terrace community — proof that even a focused footprint can deliver bold design impact. It’s a home intentionally crafted for entertaining, everyday living, and truly enjoying the moments shared within it.
