Honoring Lucy Donmoyer: A Community Effort

This past September, Alair Sanibel proudly joined the Fort Myers community for Pediatric Cancer Awareness and Support to honor the memory of Lucy Donmoyer. On Sunday, September 22nd, the Alair Sanibel team, along with friends and family members, set up our lemonade stand and volunteered time to make the event a success. The special event, Lucy’s Lemonade Stand, aimed to raise awareness and funds for Fourth and Gold, an organization dedicated to pediatric cancer research.

Recap of the Event and Ongoing Support

The event at The Edison was a wonderful success, thanks to the generous support from the Fort Myers community. The Alair Sanibel team, along with local friends and family, raised $3,250 for Fourth and Gold, ranking as the 4th highest total among 80 lemonade stands across the country.

Since Lucy’s diagnosis in 2020, Alair Sanibel has been dedicated to supporting her and her family. Over the past three years, we have participated in various fundraising activities, including last year’s lemonade stand, which raised $2,500 for this important cause. We’re grateful for the opportunity to be part of the community’s efforts in the fight against pediatric cancer and hope to continue contributing to this vital work.

September: Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness about pediatric cancer and the need for ongoing research and support. By supporting Lucy’s Lemonade Stand, we honor Lucy’s memory and contribute to the fight against pediatric cancer. The collective efforts during this month emphasize the importance of community involvement and the impact we can make together. Every dollar raised brings us closer to finding a cure, making events like Lucy’s Lemonade Stand crucial in the battle against pediatric cancer.

About Fourth and Gold

Fourth and Gold is a local Jacksonville non-profit founded by one of Lucy’s nurses. The organization is dedicated to funding research aimed at developing less toxic treatments for pediatric cancer. In four years, Fourth and Gold has raised enough money to fund four research grants to develop less toxic treatments for three specific types of pediatric cancer.

Fourth and Gold has a number of community events throughout the year to raise money for pediatric cancer research. On November 14th, Fourth and Gold will hold its Inaugural Golden Gala at the Lark in downtown Jacksonville.

Since 2022, Fourth and Gold has been able to give out more than $200,000 for childhood cancer research. More information about the projects they support, as well as details about upcoming events and how you can get involved, can be found on their website.
