The city of Hudson, Ohio is unique in many ways. Here, you’ll find a distinctive historical charm combined with cutting-edge technology and many of the latest innovations that make living and working here so attractive.

In 2015, the city of Hudson placed heavy focus on using technology to improve systems and productivity, increase connections for local businesses through the use of the Internet and enhance communication with great residents who call this place home. Combined, this set a new precedent for the state of Hudson in 2016 and beyond.

A New Internet Age in Hudson

2015 marked the year that Hudson first instituted a city-owned Internet broadband Internet service. Officially known as Velocity, this powerful Internet option is the first of its kind in Northeast Ohio. It offers existing businesses in the area new possibilities for future growth and is expected to be a unique tool that Hudson will use to attract new businesses to this dynamic city.

Helping Businesses Grow

Hudson realizes that economic growth for all citizens depends on the continued growth of the private industry businesses that call this city home. In 2015, we assisted many companies in relocating to new spaces, expanding their business potential and better meeting the needs of their clients. RAMCO and Day Ketterer, Ltd. Law Firm were two of the recipients. These relocations will not only help businesses to serve our city better, but they will also create the potential for new job opportunities and improved financial situations for many residents across Hudson.

Downtown Expansion

Phase II of the downtown Hudson expansion is well underway, and it will provide new and improved mixed use spaces for living and working in Hudson. The design of this revitalization incorporates both new business spaces and a variety of housing opportunities, and it also brings life to the area with new uses for previously underutilized spaces west of First and Main.

Residential Growth

Business growth is not the only focus of the state of Hudson in 2016. Residential growth also remains strong. There are currently more than 800 zoning certificate requests, including 30 new single-family homes in Hudson, making this city’s housing stock some of the very best in Summit County.

Innovative Ways to Save Taxpayer Dollars

Hudson is also focused on making the city a better place for everyone to live. As part of this initiative, the city finalized an agreement with Summit County for a transfer of ownership of Hudson’s sanitary sewer system. The transfer will save the city approximately $1.3 million per year, resulting in lower costs for all citizens.

A new brine well will also eliminate the need for private companies to provide brine for water treatment facilities and winter road de-icer. The project is anticipated for completion in 2016 and has the potential to save residents of Hudson a significant amount in tax dollars.

Roads are in the process of being resurfaced, making commutes easier and safer for all. The new Durapatch road repair system makes this process easier and faster. Patches are also longer lasting than traditional asphalt, resulting in less need for expensive and inconvenient repairs in future years.
