Whether you are just starting your investigation about possibly building or remodeling a home or you are deep in the weeds of that dream project, it’s a pretty good bet that you have a lot of questions. In fact, some that we hear a lot from our clients are “Is that a dumb question?” or “Sorry, am I asking too many questions?” To this we always respond with an emphatic “No! Questions are not a bad thing!”. In fact, we feel that questions are actually a pretty important tool for communication throughout the building process.
“A prudent question is one-half of wisdom” ~Francis Bacon
Asking Questions
An open line of communication through questions can help guide and enhance the entire building process, if they are used in a constructive and collaborative way. Questions should not be used in a belittling or “gotcha” way, but more to share what you do know and request what you don’t and are looking for more detail on. Alternatively, simply assuming that everyone is on the same page all the time, can lead to conflict.
By asking questions, you are also indirectly giving insight into items that you are interested in as well as how you like to be communicated with. No one is an expert on everything or has every answer to every question. We all must rely on other people at some point to help fill in the blanks. The key is finding the right person to answer your question accurately, in a way you understand, and that you can trust.
At Alair Homes Houston, we want to be your trusted advisor when it comes to your new custom home. Our entire team is dedicated to ensuring our clients have a positive experience, which includes creating an environment that is safe, comfortable, and conducive to asking questions and completely aligning collaboratively. In fact, the only bad question is the question that isn’t asked.
