Built in 1971 and designed by renowned architect Hugh Newell Jacobson, this home received a thoughtful modern update while preserving its original aesthetic. The homeowners sought to adapt the house to their young family’s current and future needs, ensuring it could serve as their home for years to come.

Working closely with Wouter Boer Architects, the renovation reimagined the interior layout, transforming compartmentalized spaces into a bright, open-concept design. Every inch of the home was addressed without altering the footprint or usable square footage. The exterior finish and roofing were replaced, and custom single-pane bay windows were upgraded to double-pane insulated glass while maintaining their original appearance. Interiors were fully restored with trimless details and luxury finishes, and a small basement area was converted into a darkroom with an automatic door hatch.

The latest home automation technology was seamlessly integrated, including smart lighting, hidden shades, and a surround sound system discreetly installed behind the drywall.

The result is a unique, modern minimalist home, fully updated and future-proofed for years to come.

The home renovation experience exceeded all expectations. From start to finish, Alair’s attention to detail was outstanding, and they were completely transparent about timelines, budget, and delivery.

I highly recommend working with Alair and Andrew if you’re looking for a team that provides quality, integrity, and attention to detail.
