2023 Dallas Kips Bay Project with KMNelson Designs

This secondary suite was designed and built for the 2023 Kips Bay Decorators Showhouse Dallas. ‘Memoirs of Marrakesh’, designed by Kristi Nelson of KMNelson Designs, is a bright, vibrant bedroom and bathroom space inspired by the architecture and colors of Marrakesh in the 1970s. When we met the designer for this space, the room was a blank slate as it had already been stripped down to the framing. We touched almost every inch of this entire suite painting a sunset ombre effect on the ceiling, lining the walls with Frommental silk wallpaper, and completely making over the bathroom and closet with all new cabinetry, countertops and tile. In the bathroom, the solid brass wrapped floating vanity topped with waterfall edge stone slabs from Artistic Tile accented with the art deco style tile on the floor and walls of the shower took patience to line up just right. Wainscotting with tumbled marble tile and brass accent gives the perfect platform for the bright herringbone hand painted custom wallpaper from Frommental. Matte brass Kohler fixtures were installed including the Kohler Veil smart toilet. We even disguised the outlet in the side of the vanity recessed in the stone by having it hand painted to hide it. The closet was lined with custom materials and installed by Inspired Closets DFW.
